Four-goal Hammond stuns Marine
Jeff Hammond scored four times as lowly Hitchin Town thrashed error-prone Swindon Supermarine 4-0 at Hunts Copse. Hammond slid in Mark Barnes' cross after seven minutes when no defender dealt with the weak delivery. The Canaries striker then got the better of Marine skipper Leigh Henry to slot home on 39 minutes.

Soon after the break, Hammond capitalised after Danny Allen got his feet in a mess, and netted his fourth just short of the hour following a Gary Horgan error. Marine boss Mark Collier said: "We've given some poor goals away, but we're not going to slaughter the players.

"That can happen, once a season or twice a season, and it's happened to us tonight. "Hopefully it doesn't happen to us again."
