Swindon Supermarine 4 Brackley Town 4 British Gas Business Football League Premier Division Wednesday 8th April 2009
Ash 'n' grab seals Marine point By Ned Payne » (Swindon Advertiser) Supersub Ash Edenborough scored with his first touch to earn Supermarine a point in an eight-goal blockbuster against Brackley Town. Luke Hopper forced Marine ahead after five minutes from close range, before Dean Cracknell nodded Brackley level with the aid of the post. Joe Harris restored the lead when he slotted home following a crisp one-two, only for Tom Winters to break free on the right and shoot beyond Matt Bulman to level matters again.
The visitors took the lead for the first time on 31 minutes when captain Elliott Sandy was tripped in the area and Dean Cracknell side-footed the penalty into the right corner. The Marine defence was breached for the fourth time when David Perpetuini found acres of space on the left and squared for Ben Mackey to tap in.
Even when Scot Hadland was sent off seven minutes after the break for an alleged punch, the visitors still should have been safe. But Mark Draycott hooked spectacularly over his head to make it 4-3 on 66 minutes and suddenly Marine had new impetus. Gary Horgan and Alan Griffin both went close before Edenborough slid in Nick Stanley's cross in the 85th minute.
Draycott thought he had won the game for Marine seconds later but the linesman's flag denied him a winner. Supermarine boss Mark Collier said: "We were very disappointed with the way we conceded the goals, but I thought our approach play in the first half was excellent, we looked very good going forward. "We asked for a reaction in the second half and we got it. We played some great football, I think another five minutes, we go on and win the game."
