Didcot Town 1 Swindon Supermarine 2 British Gas Business Football League GX Cup Tuesday 28.10.2008 By Gareth Moorhouse (Swindon Advertiser)
Stanley fluke sends Marine through Swindon Supermarine progressed to the next round of the GX Cup after a well-earned victory away to Didcot Town, writes Michael Moore.
The visitors started strongly and within 15 minutes Mark Draycott gave Supermarine the lead after he cut in from the left and smashed the ball into the top corner. Didcot fought back and drew level on the half-hour mark. At half-time the scores were level with Supermarine shading it in terms of possession and chances.
Supermarine continued to press and were unlucky not to go ahead with 15 minutes left when Hopper struck the post. With 10 minutes left substitute Nick Stanley scored a fluke winner for the visitors to ensure progression to the next round. Stanley, who had replaced Cook up front, went down the left wing and his cross lobbed over the home side’s keeper for victory. |
