Eight-minute slump costs
Supermarine
By Ned
Payne » Swindon Advertiser
Three goals in eight
minutes all but sunk Swindon Supermarine as they lost
4-2 to Nuneaton Town at a sodden Hunts Copse tonight.
Following a goal-less first half in which Supermarine
had the better chances as well as the majority of the
play, the Southern League clash was turned upside down
at the start of the second period.
Chris Dillon crashed into
the roof of the net from 18 yards after 53 minutes
before a Leigh Henry own goal saw the advantage doubled.
Adam Walker made it 3-0 on 61 minutes with a delightful
turn and shot and the game was then effectively over.
Dillon nodded in his second of the night midway through
the half to deepen Supermarine’s misery, although the
hosts came fighting back in the latter stages.
Nick Stanley tapped in from
close range on 83 minutes after Joe Harris’ initial shot
had been saved. And Leigh Henry atoned for his earlier
error by bundling in a corner after 86 minutes to make
it 4-2.
