Collier pleased with
point
By Steve Butt » Swindon

Swindon Supermarine boss
Mark Collier described his side’s 0-0 draw at
Stourbridge as “a point gained” rather than two dropped.
Collier’s men had their chances but the Supermarine boss
admitted it was his side’s hardworking defensive work
which impressed him most. Mark Barnes and Nick Stanley
both had good chances to break the deadlock while Kris
Taylor had two fine efforts on goal, including an
attempt to lob the Stourbridge goalkeeper.
Ashley Edenborough could
have snatched victory for Marine when he went one-on-one
with the goalkeeper only to be thwarted by a fine save.
Collier though remained pleased with the result and had
high praise for his struggling side.
“It was definitely a point
gained rather than two dropped,” admitted Collier. “We
had our chances to score and on another day they would
have gone in but I was pleased with how we defended. It
was like the old days where we were working hard,
defending in numbers, making blocks and Matty Bulman was
making saves.
“In the first half we
played some nice football and created some good chances
but in the second Stourbridge came at us and were
physical but we defended well and kept them out. “I am
very pleased with the clean sheet. We said before the
game that we have a point right now, so we must try keep
that first by keeping a clean sheet.”
A lack of confidence and
money is costing Supermarine dear this season but
Collier believes this result can give his side a huge
boost. “Everyone knows the problems we have. Confidence
is low because of the results and obviously it’s hard to
freshen things up by bringing new players in because of
the budget cuts. “But this clean sheet should give us
confidence. It’s the same group of players, give or take
a few from last season, so we know they can produce at
this level. It’s just a confidence thing. “If we can
keep clean sheets then we can win games, it’s as simple
as that.” The only sour note for Supermarine saw Danny
Allen sent off for two bookable offences late on in the
match.
