Seven and hell as Marine
crumble
Supermarine were powerless
to stop Truro City powering to the top of the Southern
League after a 7-2 defeat in Cornwall.
If the scoreline wasn’t bad
enough for Matt Robinson, the caretaker boss also
suffered the indignity of opening the hosts’ account
with with a headed own goal. David Murphy levelled for
Marine but a double from former Premier League striker
Barry Hayles gave Truro a 3-1 cushion at the break.
San Smith bagged a fourth
early in the second period before Hayles completed his
hat-trick from the penalty spot. Marcus Martin made it
six, only for Murphy to score Marine’s second but
Truro’s Andy Taylor had the last word.
